LPA spotted east of Davao City, Habagat to bring rains, thunderstorms —PAGASA


State weather bureau PAGASA on Friday said a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted east of Davao City.

In its 4 a.m. 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA said the LPA was located at 835 kilometers east of Davao City at 3 a.m.

“At 3:00 AM today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 835 km East of Davao City (6.2°N, 133.3°E). Southwest Monsoon affecting the western section of the country,” it said.

Due to Southwest Monsoon and Monsoon Trough, Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Cagayan, Isabela, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

PAGASA warns of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Southwest Monsoon

The rest of the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon.

These weather conditions may result in flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

Moderate winds and moderate coastal water up to 2.5 meters are expected over Western section of Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water up to 2.1 meters are expected over the rest of the country.

In its 5 a.m. regional weather forecast, PAGASA said Western Visayas and Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro, will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon and Monsoon Trough.

The rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon, it added.

Moderate winds from the Southwest are expectedl over Western Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro with moderate seas.

Light to moderate winds from the Southwest to Southeast were expected over the rest of Visayas with slight to moderate seas. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
