Habagat to bring rain showers across parts of Luzon, Visayas

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring scattered rain showers across parts of Luzon and Visayas, PAGASA said Wednesday.

Moreover, the state weather bureau said Tropical Storm Nanmadol, which is outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, was moving northeastward slowly with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h and gustiness up to 105 km/h.

As of 3 p.m., Nanmadol was located 1,945 km east of extreme northern Luzon.

Earlier in the day, PAGASA said Nanmadol was seen to remain far from the Philippine landmass and not directly affect the weather condition in the country.

However, it may enhance the Habagat, which may bring rains over the western sections of southern Luzon and Visayas beginning Wednesday or Thursday.

In the next 24 hours, the Habagat will be affecting the western sections of Central Luzon, southern Luzon, and the Visayas in the next 24 hours.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Aklan, and Antique due to the Habagat.

Affected residents were advised to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

The wind speed forecast for the extreme northern Luzon will be moderate to strong, while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough, ranging from 2.1 meters to 3.4 meters.

Light to moderate wind speeds will be experienced by the rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal water conditions, ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.5 meters. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
