PAGASA: Habagat to affect western section of South Luzon, Visayas

The southwest monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring rains across parts of the country on Friday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Western Visayas, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public against possible flash floods or landslides due to the weather system.

Slight to moderate winds will blow over the country while coastal waters will also be slight to moderate.

Minimum temperature was recorded at 25.1°C at 6:20 a.m. while maximum temperature was at 31.3°C at 2 p.m.

The sun will set at 5:57 p.m. It will rise Saturday at 5:45 a.m.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is still monitoring Typhoon Nanmadol, which is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 p.m., the center of the eye of Nanmadol was located 1,445 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

It is moving northwestward at 10 kilometers per hour while packing maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h.

Earlier, the weather bureau said Nanmadol is expected to enter PAR on Friday and may reach the super typhoon category within 24 hours.—Sundy Mae Locus/AOL, GMA News
