PAGASA: Karding slightly intensifies as it exits PAR

Typhoon Karding has slightly intensified while moving over the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said Karding will continue moving its westward track towards Vietnam. It will then exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday evening.

“This tropical cyclone is forecast to further intensify throughout the forecast period,” PAGASA added.

It said storm warning signal raised in certain areas across Luzon has been lifted.

As of 4 p.m., Karding was located 425 km west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 170 km/h and central pressure of 970 hPa. It is moving westward at 30 km/h.

It also has strong to typhoon-force winds that extend outwards up to 260 km from the center.

Heavy rainfall

In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said occasional to monsoon rains are still possible over the western sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

Moreover, moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 4.0 m) may prevail over the western seaboards of the country under the influence of Karding and the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat).

PAGASA said that such conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts.
