Nesat's trough, southwesterly surface windflow to bring rain showers
The trough of Typhoon Nesat (formerly known as Neneng while inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility) and the southwesterly surface windflow will bring rain showers over several areas on Monday, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.
Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of Nesat. PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to heavy rains.
At 3 a.m., Nesat was located at 430 km west of Extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h, gustiness of up to 150 km/h, and moving westward at 20 km/h.
Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwesterly surface windflow. Moderate to at times heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms and the southwesterly surface windflow. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern Luzon, with wave heights possibly reaching up to 4 meters.
The seas will also be moderate to rough in Visayas and the rest of Luzon, with waves possibly up to 3 meters tall.
Meanwhile, in Mindanao, coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
