Obet exits PAR — PAGASA
Tropical Depression Obet has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) while moving slowly westward, according to weather bureau PAGASA on Saturday afternoon.
Obet exited the PAR at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. At 4 p.m., it was spotted 260 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes.
It had maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said Obet is unlikely to directly affect the weather conditions in the country within the forecast period.
The tropical depression is also unlikely to bring rough seas over the coastal waters of the country.
Obet is forecast to accelerate westward in the next 12 hours before turning west southwestward on Sunday afternoon.
“Due to the entrainment of cold and dry air associated with the Northeast Monsoon, Obet may weaken into a remnant low on Monday,” PAGASA said.
“Unless re-entry in the PAR region occurs, this is the final bulletin for this tropical cyclone.” — VBL, GMA News
