Rainshowers, thunderstorms expected due to LPA trough, localized thunderstorms —PAGASA

The country may experience rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the low pressure area (LPA) and localized thunderstorms, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao due to the trough of the LPA.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are also possible over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

During severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said flashfloods or landslides may also happen in these areas.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas up to 4.5 meters may be experienced over the northern and western sections of Luzon.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas up to 2.1 meters are expected over Mindanao, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon.

At 3 a.m. on Wednesday, the LPA that was formerly Tropical Cyclone Queenie was spotted 355 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, PAGASA said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
