LPA, ITCZ to trigger rains over Eastern Visayas, Mindanao

A low-pressure area (LPA) has developed over the waters off General Santos City, PAGASA said Wednesday.

In its latest bulletin, the weather bureau said the LPA was last seen 445 kilometers east of General Santos City as of 3 p.m. and is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which currently affects the Mindanao region.

The ITCZ and the LPA are forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the shear line is expected to cast cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, and the provinces of Quezon, Aurora, and Isabela as it also continues to affect Eastern Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds may prevail over the eastern section of the country, to be accompanied by moderate to rough waters. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds is expected to blow over the rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Minimum temperature was recorded at 6 a.m. at 24.8°C while the maximum temperature was monitored at 2 p.m. at 31.7°C. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
