Shear line, LPA trough to trigger rains across Philippines

The shear line and the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains across the country, weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.

As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located 870 kilometers east of Mindanao, based on PAGASA’s 4 p.m. bulletin.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and the Bicol Region due to the trough of the LPA, while cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced in the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte due to the shear line.

Localized thunderstorms, meanwhile, may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in the affected areas.

Northern Luzon is expected to experience strong winds and rough coastal water conditions. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions may prevail over the rest of the country.
