Rosal transitions into low pressure area

Tropical Storm Rosal transitioned into a post-tropical low pressure area (LPA) early Tuesday morning and is too far to directly affect the weather condition in the country, according to the latest weather update posted by PAGASA.

As of 4 a.m., the center of the LPA (formerly Rosal) was estimated at 1,020 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon with central pressure of 1004 hPa and moving southeastward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals were hoisted, the weather bureau said.

"The post-tropical low is too far to directly affect the weather condition in the country," the agency added.

The surge of the Northeast Monsoon is no longer enhanced by the "post tropical low," but a marine gale warning remains in effect over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon and sea travel may be risky for those using small seacraft.

"Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions," PAGASA said.

"This so-called post-tropical low is expected to dissipate within 24 hours due to the unfavorable conditions brought about by the surge of the northeast monsoon," it added. —BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
