LPA to dump rains in Bicol, Visayas, Mindanao

The low pressure area (LPA) near Surigao del Norte will continue to bring rains over Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao, according to PAGASA on Friday.

Based on its 24-hour public forecast, the weather bureau said the LPA was last seen 90 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte at 3 p.m.

It is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte which may cause floods and landslides.

Likewise, the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, MIMAROPA, Quezon, and the rest of Caraga and Visayas. Flash floods and landslides may occur in these areas due to the rainfall, PAGASA said.

Cloudy skies with rains, meanwhile, may prevail in Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the rest of CALABARZON, and Aurora due to the northeast monsoon (Amihan).

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the LPA and the localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said forecast winds in the country will be moderate to strong while the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila on Saturday at 6:25 a.m.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
