Light rains expected over Philippines due to Amihan, localized thunderstorms

A rainy weekend may be experienced in Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the northeast monsoon (Amihan) and localized thunderstorms.

In its 24-hour public forecast, state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday said the Amihan will continue to affect Luzon and may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the region.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, meanwhile, are forecast in Visayas and Mindanao due to the localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned the public against possible flash floods or landslides in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast winds in Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao are moderate to strong and will be accompanied by moderate to rough coastal waters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters.
