LPA off Surigao del Sur to dump rains over parts of Visayas, Mindanao — PAGASA

A low pressure area (LPA) off Surigao del Sur will trigger severe rains over a large swath of Visayas and Mindanao.

State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday said the LPA was last seen at 530 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 3 p.m.

It is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Caraga and Davao Region and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the Visayas and the rest of Mindanao.

PAGASA warned the public against the possible rain-induced flash floods and landslides in the affected areas during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (Amihan) will continue to affect Luzon and will bring cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Northern Quezon. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough waters will prevail in Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao while the rest of the country will have light to moderate rains, to be accompanied by slight to moderate coastal waters.

The sun will set at 6:06 p.m. It will rise Tuesday at 6:05 a.m.—Sundy Locus/AOL, GMA Integrated News
