PAGASA: LPA east of Surigao del Sur may become tropical depression


A low pressure area in the waters off Surigao del Sur may develop into a tropical depression and will be given the local name “Egay”, state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.

The LPA east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in portions of the Southern Tagalog, Bicol, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Hindi nawawala ang posibilidad na maging isang ganap na bagyo within the next 24 to 48 hours. ‘Pag ito ay naging isang bagyo tatawagin nating ‘Egay’,” said Dominguez.

(There is a possibility that this will become a cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours. If it becomes a cyclone, it will be called Egay.)

According PAGASA's weather bulletin posted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the LPA is also seen to cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

At 3 p.m., the LPA was spotted at 695 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Marinduque, Romblon, southern portion of Quezon, Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms

The trough of the LPA and localized thunderstorms will cause Metro Manila and the rest of the country to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Trough of LPA and localized thunderstorms in the area.

There will also be risks regarding possible isolated floods or landslides as a result of severe thunderstorms.

The country will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate waters at 0.6 to 2.1m.

Sunset will be at 6:29 P.M. and the sun will rise again at 5:36 A.M. —NB, GMA Integrated News
