Northeast Monsoon to bring rains over parts of Luzon on New Year's Day

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is affecting Northern and Central Luzon on Monday and will bring rains over several areas, PAGASA said in its weather forecast for New Year's Day.

Batanes and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains brought about by Amihan. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly lead to flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the rest of Cagayan Valley may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the monsoon.

The rest of the country on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

Coastal waters will be rough in Northern Luzon, and moderate to rough in the rest of Luzon.

Meanwhile, coastal waters will be slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
