Dangerous heat index to hit 12 areas on April 19 —PAGASA

Twelve areas in the country are predicted to have dangerous levels of heat index on Friday, April 19.

According to PAGASA in its 5 p.m. heat index forecast on Thursday, the following areas may have heat levels of 42°Cto 51°C:

• Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 43°C
• Bacnotan, La Union – 42°C
• Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42°C
• Sangley Point, Cavite – 43°C
• Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas – 44°C
• Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 43°C
• Aborlan, Palawan – 44°C
• CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur – 42°C
• Roxas City, Capiz – 43°C
• Iloilo City, Iloilo – 43°C
• Dumangas, Iloilo – 43°C
• Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte – 42°C

The lowest heat index prediction for Friday was recorded at Baguio City, Benguet and BSU, La Trinidad, Benguet at 28°C for both areas.

The same forecast also predicts dangerous heat index levels in 15 different areas on Saturday.

Heat index at a danger level poses the risk of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, as well as heat stroke, for individuals exposed to continuous heat.

PAGASA recommended limited outdoor activity, consistent hydration and wearing fresh clothes to combat the effects of the heat. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
