Thunderstorm advisory raised over Metro Manila, nearby provinces

State weather forecasters PAGASA on Thursday afternoon issued thunderstorm advisory covering Metro Manila and several adjacent provinces.

Issued on 3:08 p.m., PAGASA said "moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds" are expected over Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Metro Manila, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija within the next two to three hours.

It also said the same weather conditions are being experienced over Zambales (Candelaria) and Quezon Province (General Luna, Macalelon, Lopez), and may persist in the next two hours.

Residents in these area were warned against possible flash floods and landslides.

The rains are expected to come as a respite from days of extreme heat that has forced schools in many provinces to suspend face-to-face classes for several days. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/KBK, GMA Integrated News
