25 areas could experience ‘dangerous’ heat index level on May 10


The heat index in 25 areas in the country may hit the "danger" level on Friday, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In it’s 5 p.m. heat index forecast on Thursday, the following areas are predicted to have heat index levels from 42°C to 45°C:

  • Iba, Zambales
  • CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
  • Cubi Point., Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • Sangley Point, Cavite
  • Infanta, Quezon
  • Alabat, Quezon
  • Aborlan, Palawan
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Legazpi, Albay
  • Masbate City, Masbate
  • CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
  • Mambusao, Capiz
  • Iloilo City, Iloilo
  • Dumangas, Iloilo
  • Catarman, Northern Samar
  • Catbalogan, Samar

Baguio City and Benguet State University, La Trinidad in Benguet continue to have the lowest heat index with 27°C.

According to PAGASA, heat indexes ranging from 42°C to 51°C fall under the danger level.

Danger level of heat index poses the risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke for continuous exposure.

The agency advised the public to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
