Frontal system to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over parts of Northern Luzon
The frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over parts of extreme Northern Luzon on Tuesday, PAGASA reported.
Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the frontal system with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be one of the areas under danger level at 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 42 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
The public was advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.
In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:
- Limit the time spent outdoors.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
- Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
- Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.
The wind speed forecast for extreme Northern Luzon is light to moderate moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
The rest of the country meanwhile will experience light to moderate winds moving southwestward, and coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
