Tropical cyclone spotted outside PAR; Habagat to bring rain

The state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday it was monitoring a tropical cyclone thousands of kilometers away from Extreme Northern Luzon.

At 3 p.m., the tropical cyclone was located 2,105 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said in its daily weather forecast at 4 p.m.

The cyclone was moving eastward at 10 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and localized thunderstorms affect the country.

The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zambales and Bataan, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides may occur due to these weather conditions.

The Philippines will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:41 a.m. on Thursday. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
