Dagupan City to experience 42°C heat index on March 8, 2025

The heat index in Dagupan City, Pangasinan may hit 42°C on Saturday, March 8, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday.

This means residents of the city may experience a heat index that is under the “danger” category (42°C to 51°C), which can cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

On Friday, three areas recorded a heat index—which measures how hot it feels to the human body, factoring in humidity along with the actual air temperature—of at least 42°C:

  • Dagupan City: 44°C
  • Virac (Synop), Catanduanes: 43°C
  • Tacloban City, Leyte: 42°C

On Saturday, NAIA Pasay City will see a heat index of 39°C, while Science Garden Quezon City will experience 38°C.

A heat index from 33°C to 41°C is under the “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon due to the shear line.

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will occur over Caraga and Southern Leyte because of the easterlies, which will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Strong winds and rough seas are expected in Northern Luzon. Central Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected for the rest of the country.
