Shear line, easterlies to bring rains over Luzon

Shear line, easterlies to bring rains over Luzon

The state weather bureau PAGASA on Saturday afternoon said the shear line will affect the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte caused by the shear line.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Central Luzon and CALABARZON.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Ilocos Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected for the rest of the country due to the easterlies.

Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms may occur.

Winds, coastal waters

Northern and Central Luzon will have moderate to strong winds moving northeast with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds moving east to northeast and slight to moderate coastal waters.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila at 6:08 a.m. on Sunday.

Heat index

On Saturday, only Cuyo, Palawan registered a heat index of 42°C, which is in the "danger'' category. This can cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

PAGASA predicted that Sunday's heat index will not reach a dangerous level (42°C to 51°C) in any part of the Philippines. —Sherylin Untalan/VAL/VBL, GMA Integrated News
