No ‘danger level’ heat index forecast for Friday, March 21, 2025
No area in the country is expected to reach the “danger level” of the heat index on Friday, PAGASA said in a forecast.
PAGASA classifies a heat index between 42°C and 51°C in the “danger” category, posing health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
In its 5 p.m. March 20 bulletin, the state weather bureau said the highest heat index expected in the country on Friday will be 41°C, to be measured by synoptic stations in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur and Cotabato City, Maguindanao.
Meanwhile, a 34°C heat index is expected to be measured by the NAIA Pasay City station while the Science Garden, Quezon City could measure a heat index of 33°C.
A heat index from 33°C to 41°C is under the “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.

The heat index measures how hot it feels to the human body, factoring in humidity along with the actual air temperature.
PAGASA has urged the public to limit outdoor activity, remain hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
