LPA to bring scattered rains over Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN
A low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will bring scattered rains over the Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN on Monday, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.
The Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.v
The LPA was estimated to be located at 3 a.m. at 695 km east of General Santos City, and it is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao, the weather bureau said.
The low pressure area has a chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to a report on Unang Balita.
"Itong low pressure area na ito, in the next 24-48 hours, mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo pero not ruled out ang tsansa ng pagiging bagyo nito within the week," PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said in an interview on Unang Balita.
If the LPA develops into a tropical depression, it will be the first cyclone for the country this year, and it will be called Auring, she added.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao and Palawan may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The ITCZ affecting Mindanao may last for two to three more days, Torres said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country on the other hand are being affected by the easterlies and will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly result.
Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
