ITCZ, easterlies to bring rains over large parts of PH

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and easterlies will bring cloudy skies and rains over several areas of the country in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

These moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist over the rest of Mindanao due to the ITCZ.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in portions of extreme Northern Luzon.

The rest of the country can expect light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:26 a.m. on Monday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
