Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over most of PH; tropical cyclone remains outside PAR, PAGASA says


The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with rain showers over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Wednesday, PAGASA reported.

The state weather bureau also reported that as of 3 a.m. a tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is being monitored.

The location of the tropical cyclone is 610 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, gustiness of up to 70 kph and moving slowly in the east southeast direction.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique will have monsoon rains due to the Southwest Monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Caraga, Davao Region, Pangasinan, and the rest of Visayas, Central Luzon, and Mimaropa will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

The western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds moving southwestward, with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The wind speed forecast for Northern and Central Luzon is light to moderate moving in the southwest to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds moving in the southwest to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
