LPA has ‘high’ chance of becoming tropical depression - PAGASA

State meteorologists are monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) off the coast of Cagayan, which has a ''high'' chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. 

As of 8 p.m., PAGASA said the LPA was monitored 125 kilometers north northwest of Calayan, Cagayan. 

The state weather bureau earlier said that if it develops into a tropical depression, it will be given the local name “Bising.”

Further, heavy rains brought by the LPA and Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will prevail over the country in the coming days.
