LPA outside PAR ‘unlikely’ to become storm; Habagat to bring more rain in PH
The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is “unlikely” to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Wednesday afternoon.
At 2 p.m., the state weather bureau said the LPA was located 1,655 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
For now, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to affect the weather conditions of the country, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. daily weather forecast.
These areas are Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique.
Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods and landslides.
Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, the rest of Western Visayas, mainland Cagayan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Palawan, Lanao del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.
These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist throughout the rest of the country due to the Habagat.
These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides.
PAGASA also said Tropical Cyclone Danas (formerly Bising) has weakened into a tropical depression.
At 2 p.m., it was observed 695 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, or in the vicinity of Fujian, China, packing a maximum wind of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 90 km/h, and moving east southeast at 10 km/h.
State meteorologists said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the northern and western sections of Luzon.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
