LPA near La Union has 'high' chance of becoming tropical cyclone - PAGASA

The low pressure area outside La Union province has a "high" chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Thursday night.

At 8 p.m., the LPA was located 75 km west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.

PAGASA also said the tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (2,675 km east of Northern Luzon) became stronger.

Now a tropical storm, the weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.

It was moving west northwest at 10 km/h.

PAGASA expects two to three tropical cyclones to form inside or enter the PAR this month. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
