LPA trough, Habagat cause rains over parts of PH — PAGASA
The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is causing rains over parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.
According to PAGASA's daily weather forecast at 4 p.m. Saturday, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may be expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands due to the trough of the LPA.
The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
The rest of the country will be having partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA defines a trough as the elongated area of low barometric pressure that generally stretches north and south.
Flash floods or landslides may occur in some areas of the country as a result of these weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the northern and western sections of Luzon are expected to have moderate winds with moderate waters.
The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.
Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:43 a.m. Sunday. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
