Huaning keeps strength as it nears PAR exit
Tropical Depression Huaning has maintained its strength as it slowly exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said Monday afternoon.
Based on its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the state weather bureau said Huaning was located 555 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 70 km/h.
PAGASA maintained that the storm is unlikely to affect the country.
Huaning is also expected to remain as a tropical depression throughout the forecast period.
However, its intensification is still not ruled out, but is not the most likely scenario at this time.
The storm is expected to move generally northward and exit PAR on Tuesday morning.
“On the track forecast, the tropical depression may pass near or over the Ryukyu Islands tomorrow morning or afternoon,” PAGASA said. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
