Thunderstorm alert raised over Metro Manila, 7 provinces

Weather bureau PAGASA has issued a thunderstorm alert for Metro Manila and seven provinces on Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy to intense rain showers with lightning and strong winds may prevail over Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Laguna, Pampanga, Zambales and Tarlac within the next two hours, PAGASA said in its advisory at 1:13 p.m.

Several municipalities (Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Lopez, Pitogo, Gumaca, Infanta, Real) in Quezon Province, meanwhile, were experiencing moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

''All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,'' PAGASA said. –VBL, GMA Integrated News
