LPA gets closer to Luzon, has medium chance of becoming cyclone
The low pressure area (LPA) located east of Aurora was moving closer to Luzon and had a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.
PAGASA said the LPA was located 510 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, as of 8 a.m.
“As of 8 a.m. today, August 21, 2025, the low pressure area (LPA 08e) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a 'medium' potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” PAGASA said in its 10 a.m. advisory.
The public was advised to monitor updates from the state weather bureau.
In its 4 a.m. forecast, PAGASA said the trough of the LPA may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol, Calabarzon, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran.
