LPA inside PAR has ‘high’ chance of becoming storm — PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a high possibility of developing into a tropical depression, PAGASA said Wednesday afternoon.

As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located 305 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and LPA's trough are expected to bring cloudy skies and rain over several areas in the country, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast.

The state weather bureau said the LPA trough will affect the weather conditions of Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.

The Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

The Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms throughout the rest of Mindanao.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the western section of Southern Luzon.

They said Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal water conditions will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:44 a.m. on Thursday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
