LPA trough, Habagat, thunderstorms to bring rains
The trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA), the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and localized thunderstorms will bring rains over several areas on Sunday, according to PAGASA's 24-hour public weather forecast.
Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to heavy rains.
An estimated 50 to 100 mm of rainfall may be expected in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Northern Samar, PAGASA said in its weather advisory.
At 3 a.m., this LPA was estimated to be located at 9 km east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte.
"Napakaliit na ng posibilidad na ito or unlikely na ito ay mabuo pa at maging isang ganap na bagyo," DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said in the bureau's public weather forecast.
(It has a very low chance or it is unlikely to intensify and develop into a tropical depression.)
Another LPA however was formed and was estimated to be at 900 km east of Eastern Visayas at 3 a.m. today.
"Low chance o sa ngayon mababa ang tsansa nito na maging bagyo," Badrina said, adding that PAGASA will continue to monitor this LPA.
(For now it has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression.)
Habagat
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon will affect Mindanao and the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, PAGASA said.
Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of CALABARZON may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.
Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and Negros Occidental may have 50-100 mm of moderate to heavy rainfall.
The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.
Localized thunderstorms
The rest of Luzon may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms as a result of localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may result during severe thunderstorms.
