Up to 15 tropical cyclones could enter PH in next 6 months

Up to 15 tropical cyclones could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) from September of this year to February, PAGASA said on Monday.

The state weather bureau said that there could be two to four tropical cyclones that could enter or develop in the PAR in the next two months. Meanwhile, two to three cyclones could hit the country in November.

Further, one to two cyclones may develop inside PAR in December. On the other hand, there could be none or at least one cyclone to enter the country by January and February of 2026, PAGASA added.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a “low” potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The LPA (LPA 08i) was monitored 730 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 2 p.m.

In a separate advisory, PAGASA said that the LPA is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

On the other hand, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat might bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon, the rest of Calabarzon, and the rest of Bicol Region.

Further, the rest of the country is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned residents of the areas mentioned above of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
