LPA near Ilocos Sur still has 'medium' chance of becoming cyclone — PAGASA

Weather service PAGASA said the low pressure area (LPA) off Ilocos Sur still has a "medium" chance of turning into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

According to an advisory on Friday afternoon, the LPA was last seen at 175 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur as of 3 p.m.

PAGASA it has a "medium" possibility of developing into a tropical depression. 

Due to the effects of the LPA, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will be having cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The Southwest Monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may be seen over Visayas and Mindanao.

Flashfloods or landslides may occur in some areas as a result of these weather conditions.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds with slight moderate waters may be observed all over the country.
