Easterlies to bring cloudy skies, rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are forecasted to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies on Tuesday, PAGASA reported.

The state weather bureau continues to monitor Tropical Depression Tapah (formerly Lannie), which is located 1,250 kilometers west northwest of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and moving northwestward at the speed of 15 km/h.

Meanwhile, Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies with the possibility that flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, the rest of CALABARZON, and the rest of MIMAROPA will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.

The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao is light to moderate moving in the northeast to east direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate winds moving in the northeast to southeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
