LPA east of Infanta, Quezon now Tropical Depression Mirasol

The low pressure area being monitored east of Infanta, Quezon has now become a tropical depression, the state weather bureau PAGASA said on Tuesday afternoon. 

The tropical depression was given the local name Mirasol. 

PAGASA earlier raised a La Niña alert, which signifies an above-average number of tropical cyclone occurrences towards the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau earlier said that another LPA inside the Philippine area of responsibility that was being monitored west of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro has an “unlikely” chance to become a tropical depression. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News
