Signal No. 1 in 7 areas as Mirasol moves over extreme Northern Luzon
Tropical Depression Mirasol is moving west northwestward over the sea west of extreme Northern Luzon, according to the 5 a.m. cyclone bulletin of PAGASA.
Seven areas in Luzon remain under Signal No. 1, which will experience severe winds and rains. These areas are:
- Batanes
- Babuyan Islands
- the western portion of mainland Cagayan (Santo Niño, Camalaniugan, Pamplona, Rizal, Claveria, Lasam, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Allacapan, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes)
- Apayao
- the northern portion of Abra (Pidigan, San Juan, Tayum, Langiden, Lagangilang, Danglas, La Paz, Licuan-Baay, Tineg, Malibcong, Peñarrubia, San Isidro, San Quintin, Dolores, Lagayan, Bangued, Bucay, Lacub, Sallapadan)
- Ilocos Norte
- the northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, Bantay, San Vicente, San Ildefonso, Santa Catalina, City of Vigan, Caoayan, Santa, Nagbukel, Narvacan)
The center of Mirasol was estimated at 165 kilometers West of Calayan, Cagayan, moving with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
The tropical depression is forecast to continue moving generally west northwestward within the next 24 hours.
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Thursday morning or afternoon.
Nando
The other weather disturbance inside PAR, Nando, maintained strength as it moved north northwestward over Philippine Sea, PAGASA said in its latest bulletin.
"Nando is less likely to directly affect the weather in the next 48 hours. Onset of heavy rains due to the Southwest Monsoon and Nando is possible by Sunday or Monday," PAGASA added.
The center of Tropical Depression Nando was estimated at 1,225 kilometers East of Southeastern Luzon.
Moving west northwestward at 15 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
Thursday weather
The tropical depression will bring rains with gusty winds to Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, and Babuyan Islands.
The rest of Ilocos Region, rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, rest of Cagayan Valley, Zambales, and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due again to Miralso.
MIMAROPA and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms also due to the Southwest Monsoon.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms as a result of localized thunderstorms.
