LPA outside PAR has ‘low’ chance of developing into storm, says PAGASA

A low pressure area currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility only has a "low" chance of developing into a storm, PAGASA said.

In an advisory on Sunday evening, the state weather bureau said that the LPA that as of 8 p.m. is about 1,525 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao has a "low" chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA is still monitoring the track of Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa). As of 8 p.m. the storm was 415 km east of Aparri, Cagayan, with winds of 205 km/h. Storm Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

Several local governments in Luzon have already suspended classes for Monday in anticipation of Nando's effects. — BM, GMA Integrated News
