Easterlies to bring rains to eastern sections of Philippines

The easterlies are expected to bring cloudy skies and rain over the eastern sections of the country over the next 24 hours, PAGASA said on Monday afternoon.

Based on the state weather bureau’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, the affected areas are Batanes, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist throughout the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may trigger flash floods and landslides.

At 2 p.m., PAGASA said Tropical Storm Fengshen, formerly Ramil, is still being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It left PAR at 8 a.m. on Monday.

State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in extreme Northern Luzon.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

The sun will rise at 5:49 a.m. on Tuesday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
