Heavier traffic is expected on Sunday, October 4 amid the “Recoriddo” of the image of the La Naval de Manila, the Quezon City government said.

A procession of the image will take place from Sto. Domingo Church to Sto. Niño Parish Diocesan Shrine.

The heavier traffic is expected until 3 p.m.

The image will pass through 13 blessing stations:

  • Station 1 - Brgy. Talayan Hall
  • Station 2 - Masambong Brgy. Hall
  • Station 3 - Brgy. Del Monte Multi-Purpose Hall
  • Station 4 - San Pedro Bautista Church (Damayan)
  • Station 5 - Brgy. Mariblo Hall

Personnel from the Traffic and Transport Management Department, Department of Public Order and Safety, Task Force Disiplina, and Quezon City Police District will also collaborate and stand by to manage the flow of traffic along the procession routes, the QC government said.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

The annual festivity is one of the country's largest Marian processions.

The image was carved in 1593 by a Chinese artisan who later converted to Catholicism. It was given as a gift to the Dominicans, and is considered the oldest ivory carving in the Philippines.

The church, meanwhile, was originally located in Manila's Intramuros district, managed by the Dominicans. It was relocated to Quezon City in the 1960s after sustaining heavy damage in World War II, and became the new national shrine of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of La Naval de Manila.
