Dimasalang Bridge northbound now open after 4-month rehab
The northbound lane of Dimasalang Bridge in Sampaloc, Manila was opened to motorists on Tuesday morning after four months of rehabilitation.
Before 5 a.m. Tuesday, workers removed the barrier at the entrance to the bridge, according to a report by Bam Alegre on Unang Balita.
Last October 7, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the bridge and said it will be passable before All Saints' Day (Undas) on November 1.
Rehabilitation work, which began on May 23, included asphalt overlay and installation of railing to strengthen the structural integrity of the 56-year-old bridge.
The bridge allows motorists to reach Manila North Cemetery.
Motorists welcomed the opening of the bridge, saying it would cut short travel time.
Meanwhile, during the time the bridge was closed, vehicles would park on it. A car was left parked on Dimasalang Bridge on Tuesday morning, causing disruption to the flow of traffic.
In September 2025, Dimasalang Bridge's southbound lane underwent rehabilitation which lasted for three months. —KG, GMA News
