Pause on Metro Manila road excavations starts Nov. 1, 2026 due to ASEAN
A moratorium on road excavation works in Metro Manila will take effect starting November 1 to minimize disruptions for the upcoming hosting of the ASEAN Summit, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
The moratorium will be in effect until midnight of December 23 to also lessen the road disruptions during the Christmas season.
Malacañang earlier declared November 16 to 18 as special non-working days in the National Capital Region in connection with the country's hosting of the ASEAN and related summits. This is to ensure the safety and security of the participants in the summits.
Moreover, the MMDA said that it will temporarily suspend issuance of permits for fun runs, motorcades, processions, and similar public events from October 24 to November 20.
The restrictions will cover Manila City, Pasay City, Parañaque City, Makati City, and Taguig City to support security and operational preparations for the summit, the agency said.
“Partial restrictions will also be implemented at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex beginning October 24, followed by a full lockdown starting November 7,” said MMDA.
For the Undas break, the MMDA said that 2,419 personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and provide assistance in major cemeteries such as the Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City, San Juan Public Cemetery, and Bagbag Public Cemetery in Quezon City. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA News
