NGCP tower repair prompts 2-day closure of northbound SLEx-Alabang exit

The northbound lane of the Alabang exit of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) is closed to traffic due to ongoing repair and construction of a Nationa Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) transmission tower, which was toppled due to a fire last month.

According to a report on "24 Oras" by Athena Imperial on Saturday, after months of lines repair the said transmission tower is now under contruction to its permanent location beside the Alabang toll plaza.

To give way to its construction, the northbound of the Alabang toll plaza will be closed to traffic starting 6 a.m. of May 20 to 10 p.m. of May 21.

"Mananatili siyang sarado itong Alabang northbound exit ng South Luzon Expressway hanggang bukas ng gabi, alas diyes ng gabi," NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza said.

The alternate route for motorist is the Filinvest exit, which currently has light to moderate traffic.

Meanwhile, the Alabang viaduct will also be closed to traffic on Sunday morning until 12 p.m. The NGCP assured that it's expediting the tower's construction for the public's convenience.

"Ginagawa natin ang lahat para siguraduhing walang maaksidente at maging hindi mapanganib 'yung aming pagkukumpuni kasi alam naman natin na yang lugar na yan maraming dumadaang sasakyan," Alabanza said. —John Ted Cordero/ALG, GMA News
