SLEX to implement ‘Oplan Ligtas Biyahe’ for Undas 2017


Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), the operator of the Skyway System and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAx), will implement "Oplan Ligtas Biyahe: Undas 2017" from October 28 to November 2 to decongest roads and ensure the safety of All Saints and All Souls Day (Undas) travelers.

Additional traffic personnel will be posted on the southbound lane of the Skyway System and NAIAx, especially in choke points, up to Loyola and the Manila Memorial Parks on October 28, 29, and 31.

The same scheme will be implemented on November 1 and 2 on the northbound side from the Alabang Viaduct to the Skyway Main Toll Plaza B to the Runway area, Magallanes, Don Bosco, Amorsolo and Buendia off-ramps.

Ligtas Biyahe motorist assistance stations will also be set up at the C5 Bridge/Merville and C5 Offsite SB on Oct. 28 and 29; after Sucat SB exit on October 31 and November 1, 2017.

Operators Manila Toll Expressway System, Inc. (MATES) and Star Tollway Corporation will station emergency medical service providers and accredited towing services along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the Star Tollway on October 28 and 29 and the afternoon of November 1.

SLEX toll plazas that are expected to see heavy traffic include Filinvest NB Exit/SB Entry, Susana Heights NB, Carmona NB/SB, SB Exit plazas of Mamplasan, Sta. Rosa, Eton and Cabuyao, NB/SB Exits of Calamba and Greenfields.

At the Star Tollway, congestion may be experienced at the toll plazas of Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, Malvar, Balete, Lipa, Ibaan and Batangas City.

Motorists were reminded to prepare exact toll fees to avoid queueing, obey traffic and safety rules, and observe the speed limits for their own safety and that of other motorists. — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
