Heavy traffic in NCR expected due to road constructions and repairs

Expect heavy traffic in Metro Manila this July due to road constructions and repairs, a report on GMA News' Unang Balita said Monday.

Citing information from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the report said the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Drainage Enhancement Project along A. Bonifacio Avenue started July 1.

It is scheduled to run from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for 70 to 80 days.

As Balintawak Cloverleaf (EDSA-Southbound) is closed for the project, the MMDA advised motorists to take an alternate route.

Vehicles coming from NLEX:

  • Take Smart Connect Interchange going to Mindanao Avenue to destination
  • Exit to EDSA Monumento and make a U-turn to EDSA Southbound

Vehicles coming from Monumento to A. Bonifacio Avenue:

  • Turn right to Biglang Awa Street
  • Left at Jasmine Street
  • Straight at A. Bonifacio Avenue to destination

Construction of an elevated guide way for the MRT-7 along North Avenue will start July 2.

Expect heavy traffic from Mindanao Avenue until outside the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

An emergency leak repair will be conducted on the large mainline along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard Area with pre-construction starting July 7 and construction proper starting July 14. It is scheduled to run 24/7.

On the other hand, the replacement of Buendia Bridge on Buendia Avenue has no specific date yet as to when it will start.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still waiting for a permit from MMDA to start the construction.  — Maia Tria/RSJ, GMA News
