Angkas: Heavy passengers may be denied

Ride-hailing firm Angkas is now requiring its passengers to provide information on their weight, in compliance with government guidelines on motorcycle safety.

In its mobile app, the motorcycle taxi service firm now asks passengers to provide their “weight range.”

“Government guidelines on motorcycle safety requires us to ensure small bikers with small bikes are not paired with passengers they may not able to ferry,” Angkas said.

With this, the company said, “Heavy passengers may be denied.”

It explained that denying passengers is only meant to ensure the safety of both the passenger and the rider.

“We don’t judge,” Angkas said.
