Cebu Pacific cancels flights amid NCR MECQ

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific canceled several flights for the rest of August as the government only allowed air travel for essential purposes.

The Philippine government, through the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution No. 134, has placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under a modified enhanced community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 21 to 31, 2021.

With this, Cebu Pacific said it will continue to operate flights for essential travel during this time.

Following the latest government resolution, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo will cancel the following flights from August 21 to 31, 2021:

“Affected passengers have been informed via contact details provided in the booking,” the airline said.

Affected passengers may opt for the following options:

  • Rebook for travel within 60 days at no additional cost, following Cebu Pacific’s permanent removal of change fees. Fare difference waived.
  • Store the amount in a virtual wallet valid for two years and use this to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons (e.g. baggage allowance, seat selection, etc.)
  • Refund, which may take up to two months from the date of request.

“However, passengers who wish to voluntarily postpone their domestic flights and those traveling for non-essential reasons until August 31 may cancel up to two hours before their scheduled time of departure, and may select their preferred option through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website,” it said.

“This is a developing situation. Some flight changes may take place in the coming days,” it said. -MDM, GMA News
